MARINE ENGINEERING
Marine systems modeling & simulation
Souxmar develops ship maneuvering models, marine propulsion and onboard power system simulation, and marine control algorithms. We support engineering analysis, controller development and simulator integration with documented model assumptions, interfaces and validation evidence.
For vessel designers, marine equipment suppliers, shipyards and simulation teams requiring a maneuvering model, propulsion or auxiliary-system simulation, control algorithm or test environment.
Discuss your requirementsShip maneuvering and hydrodynamic models
Maneuvering models represent vessel motion, hydrodynamic forces and moments, propulsion, steering and environmental loads. The vessel type, operating conditions and engineering question determine the model boundaries and degrees of freedom. Mass properties, hydrodynamic data, coordinate systems and input assumptions are documented with the model.
Propulsion, onboard power and auxiliary systems
Subsystem models can represent propulsion machinery, power generation, energy use and selected auxiliary systems. Analysis can examine component response, operating-point changes and interactions between subsystems within a defined duty cycle. The model structure and parameters are selected around the available equipment data and intended engineering use.
Marine control system design
Control work can address vessel heading and speed regulation, propulsion control and selected equipment or auxiliary-system functions. We define controlled variables, measurements, actuator constraints and operating modes. Closed-loop simulation evaluates tracking, disturbance rejection and sensitivity to parameter changes before integration with customer software or hardware.
Verification, validation and simulation integration
Implementation verification checks equations, units, interfaces and numerical behavior. Model validation compares responses with suitable equipment, vessel or reference data for the defined use and operating envelope. Models can be prepared for real-time simulation, automated testing or integration with bridge and engine room training software.
Starting your project
Share the vessel or equipment specification, operating conditions, available hydrodynamic or machinery data and reference measurements. For integration, include signal definitions, units, communication interfaces and timing requirements. We define the model boundary, analysis questions and acceptance criteria together.
Project questions
Does ship maneuvering simulation include seakeeping analysis?
Maneuvering and seakeeping address different aspects of vessel behavior. This service describes maneuvering and selected marine subsystem models. Any wave-response or seakeeping study needs its own model definition, reference data and agreed scope.
Can you model an existing propulsion or auxiliary system?
Yes, as a scoped engineering project using customer-supplied equipment data and suitable reference measurements. Model fidelity and validation coverage depend on the information available.
How does this relate to bridge and engine room simulators?
An engineering model calculates vessel or equipment behavior. A training application adds operator interfaces, exercise control, learning objectives and debriefing. We can develop a model, an integration module or the agreed training software scope.
